5NP Texas advocates for the use of a five-needle, auricular acupuncture protocol (5NP) for mental healthcare, and trains qualified professionals to administer it.
5NP Texas respects the innate healing potential of all human beings. Our program promotes a holistic approach to wellness, honoring current medical science as well as concepts of spirit, mystery, and energy healing.
5NP Texas works to expand use of the five-needle protocol as a simple, safe, drug free tool to help heal physical, emotional, and psychological stress, trauma and addiction.
5NP Texas supports efforts to spread the use of this tool to the most vulnerable populations and to assist communities and practitioners with resources to achieve this goal.

It is widely used to support addiction recovery, manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce stress, and promote emotional trauma healing.

Martha B. Marshall
M.A., LPC, owner of Wild Basin Wellness, and Founder of 5NP Texas training organization Martha Marshall is a licensed counselor for individuals and couples who want to improve their sense of wellbeing and relationship skill. In addition to talk therapy in an office, her creative approach to change might include nature as a co-therapist: a walk outdoors under the oaks, or even a paddle boarding session on an Austin lake to help get in touch with the deeper, inner-knowing and strength we all forget sometimes. Her goal with clients is their return to balance, a new perspective, and a welcoming of their whole, wise soul. Martha teaches about the mind-body connection, mindful self-compassion, and functional family dynamics. Martha leads outdoor experiences for groups, such as first responders, military, and medical frontline workers, often with Operation Get Out. She is NOLS Wilderness First Aid certified. Martha is an Acudetox Specialist licensed by the Texas Medical Board to treat stress, trauma and addictions with ear acupuncture using the 5-needle protocol.

This nonverbal tool has been a powerful way to build therapeutic rapport and pairs so well with the other mind body practices she offers her clients. She is trained in Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy as well as being Gottman trained to work with couples and utilize EcoTherapy to support individuals, families and couples in building sustainable coping tools to manage stress. Rooted in trauma-informed, holistic care, Alison provides 5-Needle Protocol (5NP) trainings in addition to individual and family counseling, specializing in trauma recovery, anxiety and panic disorders, and healing from narcissistic and antagonistic relationships. Alison became an Acudetox Specialist for her clients, many of whom had dysregulated central nervous systems, which were blocking them from participating fully or achieving positive results in the therapeutic process. As a member of the very first cohort trained after the 2023 Texas law change that expanded Acudetox to include mental health treatment—instead of only for addictions and substance use—Alison has witnessed firsthand how auricular acupuncture provides relief and hope for clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. She integrates the 5NP protocol with other counseling interventions, offering powerful nonverbal healing options for those who sometimes struggle with traditional talk therapy. As a Registered Trainer with 5NP Texas, Alison is passionate about welcoming every mental health clinician across Texas to this evidence-based practice—empowering them to support their clients’ well-being and cultivate their own resilience and self-care.
